This early 1970s Selfridges Palomino cross mink A-line swing coat is truly one of a kind. It features a ¾ length scooped hemline and full length sleeves along with a scoop fur-backed portrait collar that can be worn standing on chilly evenings or flat, as shown in photos.  It also has two satin-lined front pockets.  This coat was a bespoke order from Selfridges fur department in 1973, costing £2,000 (£23,000 today). It comes with the valuation certificate.

The coat is crafted of extremely thick and buttery-soft, female Palomino cross mink pelts, skilfully sewn to accentuate the fur’s natural tonal striations (note the lovely horizontal banding of the pelts at the hemline). The fur’s colouring is absolutely breath taking, with a champagne background and honey coloured striations. Palomino cross mink is classified as a ‘rare  type’ or mink fur—ranked from common, main, rare and very rare—and therefore, extremely valuable.

It is lined in a cream silk-satin and closes with three concealed furrier hooks—one at the neckline, one at the bust, one at the waist and one at the hip. It also has two satin strips at the waist that can be tied around the waist to give the coat a more fitted waistline.

This is truly an amazing vintage coat that absolutely oozed with vintage glamour.  Moreover, the cut of the coat is extremely flattering and the neutral colour suits just about any outfit!
