Commonly referred to as a “shortie” in the 1960’s because of their cropped fit, coats like this one were extremely popular wardrobe must-haves, as the versatility of their style allowed them to be worn both as everyday coats and as formal outerwear. This ‘Desert Gold’ mink shortie features a waist-length hemline and ¾ length sleeves, two silk-lined, slit style pockets at the front, and a fur-backed collar/ lapel that can be worn standing or laying flat. It was designed and crafted by Engel Feltzer Furriers of Cleveland using wonderfully thick and wide pelts, sewn in a horizontal orientation to accent the caramel-coloured highlights in the fur. 'Desert Gold' mink fur is known for its rich golden fur tones with caramel-hued highlights.
The coat is lined in a pale gold brocade satin. It is closed using two furrier hooks one at the neckline and one at the bust-line; however, it has two metal buttons with an embossed starburst pattern that give the appearance of a button closure. The name “Helen Janos” is embroidered in very small script lettering inpale beige thread.
